Foresights and forward looking scenarios approaches for anticipation of skill needs (ILO)

NOET-NTF processes this contract for the ILO (International Labour Office). This project aims to map and compare approaches to foresighting and scenarios of the future development of skills needs in various countries, including the evaluation methods used and the roles that these approaches occupy in the broader context of the anticipation of skill needs the countries concerned.

They worked three outputs:

  • Comparative studies of different approaches to foresightingu and scenarios of future development;
  • Chapter for the book „A Guide on Foresight of Future Skill Needs
  • Case studies of selected countries 

Validation Seminar on Methodological Guides for Skills Anticipation and Matching, Prague 6 – 7 March 2014

Objectives
 
The purpose of the event was to present and validate the final drafts of 3 guides of the compendium of methodological guides which the ETF, Cedefop and the ILO have been developing for skills anticipation and matching (i.e. Guide on Tracer Studies, Guide on the use of labour market information (LMI) and Guide on Establishment Skills Surveys). 
 
The objective of the seminar was to ensure their validity and usefulness for target audiences and provide expert feedback and advice to the authors of the guides with a view to finalising them. 
 
Seminar structure and methods of working
 
The proposed format of the workshop was based on individual sessions dedicated to each guide starting with a short presentation or introduction, followed by a critical review of external experts and by a plenary discussion. The most appropriate comments and remarks was summarised at the end of the event and was implemented in the final drafts.
